Freemeadsons logo
Freemeadsons is a bee and honey company that makes Mead. This project was designed as a team member of Bradstreet Englert Creative.
We started with the name which was quite long, “The Freemeadsons, Limited, Co.” It was a play on the word freemasons I suppose. I was a little worried about confusion arising from this, in my experience, when you are dealing with a unique, made-up mame it is best to play it safe with typography. I’m always seeing logos with script type that reads as something else entirely or not at all! The client had a couple of suggestions for direction including some old turn of the century type sampes. They also wanted to emphasize the notion of honey.
Some of the fonts I played around with before settling on Birch. You can see here, I was thinking about emphasizing the word “mead” within the overall name.
We gave the client an option with Birch font, which is a throwback design to wood type from the late 1800’s.
